STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Official Visit by Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi

President Clinton has invited Romano Prodi, President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Italy, for an Official Visit to the United States on May 5-8. Prime Minister Prodi has accepted, and will spend May 5-7 in Washington, and May 7-8 in Chicago. President Clinton looks forward to welcoming Prime Minister Prodi to the White House and reviewing with him a broad range of issues from bilateral cooperation to transatlantic and global developments.
