Washington, DC -- Vice President Gore announced today that he has named Jodi Sakol, currently the Deputy Press Secretary of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), as his Deputy Press Secretary.

"I am very pleased that Jodi Sakol has agreed to serve as my Deputy Press Secretary," the Vice President said. "Her experience in handling regional press, her contacts with reporters across the country, and her strong writing skills will prove a great addition to my talented communications team."

Before working at the DCCC, Ms. Sakol served as Campaign Press Secretary and Spokesperson for Rep. Martin Frost, a Democratic Congressman from Texas. She also worked for the Clinton Administration as Special Assistant to the Press Secretary for the late Commerce Secretary Ron Brown. A graduate of the University of California, Davis, Ms. Sakol served as Deputy Press Secretary for the Didonato Campaign for Congress; Press Assistant to Congressman Robert Matsui, a California Democrat; Campaign Manager for the Committee to Re-elect Yolo County Supervisor Helen Thomson; and Campaign Field Coordinator for the Committee to Re-elect Yolo County Clerk Tony Bernhard. Ms. Sakol, who will begin work for the Vice President on February 17, will report to Lawrence Haas, who will formally begin work later this month as Communications Director and Press Secretary.
