STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Visit by President Stoyanov of Bulgaria

President Clinton has invited President Petar Stoyanov of Bulgaria for a working visit to Washington on February 10. President Stoyanov has accepted. Under President Stoyanov's leadership over the last year, Bulgaria has strengthened its democracy, moved forward on difficult economic reforms, and enhanced cooperation with its neighbors. The visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations between Bulgaria and the United States, as well as common efforts to promote stability, cooperation, and integration in Southeastern Europe.
