THE WHITE HOUSE

Office of the Vice President

For Immediate Release December 2, 1997

STATEMENT OF THE VICE PRESIDENT

I am pleased with today's decision by the Justice Department. Now that there has been a full and independent review, we can finally put the issue of phone calls behind us, once and for all.

What is most important to me is that we continue the work we have been doing on behalf of the American people. In just the last six months we have balanced the budget, expanded health care to five million uninsured children, and now we have the lowest unemployment in a generation. These are the kind of issues I will keep working on in the coming year.
