STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY
National Security Advisor Samuel Berger announced today the appointment of Mara Rudman as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Legislative Affairs at the National Security Council. She succeeds Bill Danvers.
Mara Rudman has been minority Legal Counsel to the House Committee on International Relations since 1995. From 1993 to 1995, she was the majority Legal Counsel to that committee. Prior to her committee positions, she was an associate at Hogan & Hartson, and a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Stanley Marcus, Southern District of Florida. Earlier, she worked as a legislative assistant to the Honorable Gerry E. Studds, who represented the 10th District of Massachusetts from 1973 to 1997.
Born in San Antonio, Texas and raised in Hyannis, Massachusetts, Rudman received her A.B. from Dartmouth College and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
