           PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES FRANK D. YTURRIA AS MEMBER, 
           BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE INTER-AMERICAN FOUNDATION

The President today announced the nomination of Frank D. Yturria to serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Foundation.

Mr. Yturria, of Brownsville, Texas, is a Founding Director and Chairman of the Board of Texas Bank & Trust of Brownsville. Mr. Yturria previously served on the Board of Directors of the Inter-American Foundation as a Member and Chairman from 1990 through 1996. Mr. Yturria has also served as Collector of Customs, 23rd Collection District of Texas and as Representative to the South Pacific Commission.

The Inter-American Foundation was created to strengthen the bonds of friendship and understanding among people of the Western Hemisphere, to support self-help efforts, and to encourage establishment and growth of democratic institutions. The Board of Directors governs the activities of the Foundation.
