              PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES MARK ERWIN AS A MEMBER 
              TO THE OVERSEAS PRIVATE INVESTMENT CORPORATION

President Clinton today announced his intent to nominate Mark Erwin as a Member of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.

Mr. Erwin, of Charlotte, North Carolina, is currently President of Erwin Capital, Inc., a family owned investment company, which controls interests in a portfolio of real estate as well as other investments. He began his real estate career at United Parcel Service where he managed portions of their real estate holdings throughout the United States and Europe. In 1982, he formed the investment firm of Crosland-Erwin Associates. Mr. Erwin majored in real estate, while attending the University of Tennessee.

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) assists U.S. investors in making profitable investments in both developing and established countries. The Corporation accomplishes this mission by offering assistance in identifying investment opportunities, providing insurance to protect investments, and by offering loans and loan guarantees to help finance projects.
