              PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES LYNDON L. OLSON, JR. 
                     AS U.S. AMBASSADOR TO SWEDEN

The President today announced his intent to nominate Lyndon L. Olson, Jr.,to be United States Ambassador to Sweden.

Mr. Olson, of Waco, Texas, is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Travelers Insurance Holding, Inc., an insurance holding company of Travelers Group in New York City. Mr. Olson served in the Texas House of Representatives, and was Chairman of the State Board of Insurance of Texas for eight years, where he also served as President of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners. Mr. Olson also served as President of the National Group Corporation in Waco, Texas.

Mr. Olson was born in Waco, Texas and received a B.A. from Baylor University in 1969. He is married to the former Kay Woodward.
