PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES DR. DAVID W. WILCOX AS ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR ECONOMIC POLICY AT THE DEPARTMENT OF TREASURY
President Clinton today announced his intent to nominate Dr. David W. Wilcox to be Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the Department of Treasury.
Dr. Wilcox, of Virginia, is currently a Senior Economist at the Federal Reserve Board in the Division of Monetary Affairs. He began his work with the Federal Reserve Board eleven years ago, in the Division of Research and Statistics and has also served as a Senior Economist with the Council of Economic Advisors. In his work with the Federal Reserve Board, Dr. Wilcox focused on household spending and saving, and monetary strategy.
Dr. Wilcox received a Doctoral degree in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Williams College with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics.
As the Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy, Dr. Wilcox will serve as the principal advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary on a wide range of domestic economic policy issues. Among other responsibilities, he will participate in developing the Administration's official economic projections. In his new role, Dr. Wilcox also will work closely with the Council of Economic Advisors, the Office of Management and Budget, and other government agencies.
