             PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES JERRY MACARTHUR HULTIN 
                      AS UNDER SECRETARY OF THE NAVY

President Clinton today announced his intent to nominate Jerry MacArthur Hultin to be Under Secretary of the Navy.

Mr. Hultin, of Columbus, Ohio, is currently Vice Chairman of Jefferson Partners, LLC, a merchant banking and strategic management consulting firm. Prior to this, he was a partner at Warner & Hultin, Attorneys at Law. Mr. Hultin served as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation (Freddie Mac) from 1993 to 1997, and is currently a Member of the Chief of Naval Operations Executive Panel. He is a Vietnam veteran, who served in the Navy from 1964 to 1969. Mr. Hultin received his B.A. from Ohio State University, and his J.D. from Yale Law School.

The Under Secretary of the Navy is the second highest ranking civilian in the Department of the Navy. Mr. Hultin will serve as the principal advisor and deputy to the Secretary of the Navy.
