STATEMENT BY VICE PRESIDENT AL GORE

The bombing this morning in Jerusalem was a brutal and senseless act of terrorism committed by the enemies of peace and stability in the Middle East. The perpetrators of this act are cowards who must be condemned by all humankind.

On this sad day of mourning, our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and their loved ones.

Today, the President and I renew our pledge to pursue a lasting and secure peace in the Middle East. We again call on the Palestinian Authority to exert every possible effort to end the scourge of terrorism and to take concrete steps to reestablish an atmosphere of trust fostering the advancement of the peace process.
