                      PRESIDENT NAMES JOHNNY YOUNG AS 
                    AMBASSADOR TO THE STATE OF BAHRAIN

The President today announced his intent to nominate Johnny Young, a Career Member of the Senior Foreign Service, Class of Minister-Counselor, to be Ambassador to the State of Bahrain.

Ambassador Young, of Maryland is currently the Ambassador to the Republic of Togo. Prior to this post he was Director of the Department of State's Office of Career Development and Assignments. Ambassador Young has also served as U.S. Ambassador to the Republic of Sierra Leone. Over the course of his career, he has held a variety of managerial positions in eight countries in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Caribbean. Ambassador Young holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, cum laude, from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He speaks French.
