                VICE PRESIDENT NAMES MATTHEW L. BENNETT AS 
                   TRIP DIRECTOR AND ASSISTANT COUNSEL

WASHINGTON -- Vice President Gore recently named Matthew L. Bennett as trip director and assistant counsel.

"I am pleased to welcome Matt to my staff," the Vice President said. "I am certain that his extensive advance experience makes him the ideal person for the job. Matt has done great work on many Presidential and Vice Presidential events and I know he will do an excellent job in his new position."

Prior to joining the Office of the Vice President, Bennett was a litigation associate with King & Spalding, where he practiced since 1993. During that time, Bennett also served as lead advance for the White House Office of Presidential Advance. Bennett was state director for Delaware and deputy convention hall director during the Clinton/Gore '96 campaign. He also worked as lead advance for Clinton/Gore '92 and on the national advance staff for the Dukakis for President campaign.

Bennett graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received his law degree from the University of Virginia Law School. He is a member of the Bar in the District of Columbia and Maryland. Bennett is a native of Syracuse, NY.
