THE WHITE HOUSE
Office of the Vice President
STATEMENT BY THE VICE PRESIDENT
Earlier this morning, on the ancient streets of Jerusalem, terrorism's ugly hand once again struck innocent men, women, and children.
This bombing was outrageous. It was senseless. It was cowardly. And it must be stopped.
Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who were hurt or killed today -- Jew and Muslim, Israeli and Palestinian.
On this sad day of mourning we say emphatically, and clearly: The President and I are pledged to pursue peace -- a lasting and securing peace. We call on the Palestinians to take concrete steps with Israel to strengthen security cooperation and increase security operations, and for both sides to deepen their determination to pursue peace.
