PRESIDENT NOMINATES RICHARD CONWAY CASEY TO THE FEDERAL BENCH

The President today nominated Richard Conway Casey to serve on the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Richard Conway Casey, 64, is currently Of Counsel to the New York law firm of Brown & Wood. A native of New York, Casey received his college degree from Holy Cross College (1955) and his law degree from Georgetown University (1958). After law school, he worked as a legal investigator for the New York County District Attorney's Office (1958) before becoming an Assistant United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York (1959-1963). Prior to joining his current law firm, he was Counsel for the Special Commission of the State of New York (1963-64). Since 1964, Casey has practiced law with the firm of Brown & Wood (Associate, 1964-69; Partner, 1970-84; Of Counsel, 1984-present). In addition, he served in the United States Army (1958, 1961-62) and the National Guard of New York (1958-61).
