PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES NANCY KILLEFER AS ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR MANAGEMENT AND CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER OF DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY

President Clinton today announced his nomination of Nancy Killefer of Washington, D.C., as Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer at the Department of the Treasury. Ms. Killefer is Director of the Washington, D.C. office of McKinsey and Company, Inc., where she heads the Consumer and Retailing Practice Group. Ms. Killefer spent the last seventeen years with McKinsey and Company focusing on marketing strategies and efficiency issues for consumer goods and service businesses. Ms. Killefer received her B.A. with honors in economics from Vassar College. She received her M.B.A. from the Sloan School of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As Assistant Secretary for Management and Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Killefer will manage financial, budgetary, personnel and technology resources for the department. Ms. Killefer will also serve as principal policy advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary on internal management of the Department and Bureaus. Ms. Killefer will also carry out responsibilities pursuant to the Chief Financial Officers Act of 1990 to ensure sound financial management practices within the Department as well as the proper stewardship of taxpayer funds.
