       PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES BONNIE R. COHEN AS UNDER SECRETARY
               FOR MANAGEMENT AT THE DEPARTMENT OF STATE

President Clinton today announced the nomination of Bonnie R. Cohen as Under Secretary for Management at the Department of State.

Ms. Cohen, of Washington, DC, has served as Assistant Secretary of Interior for Policy, Management and Budget since 1993. Her achievements have included assisting Secretary Babbitt in streamlining the Department, implementing state and federal cooperative efforts to restore the Everglades, and initiating new more self supporting fee structures for the National Parks, Wildlife Refuges and recreation areas. Prior to joining the Administration, Ms. Cohen was a Senior Vice President of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She earned a B.A. degree from Smith College in 1964, an Ed., M. degree in Research and Statistics from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in 1964, and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration in 1967.

In her capacity as the Under Secretary for Management, Ms. Cohen will serve as the principal adviser to the Secretary on management matters and supervise the execution of management policies at the State Department.
