Dear Friends:

As we did when we were with you in Oklahoma City last year, Tipper and I will pray tomorrow for the 168 innocent victims of the bombing of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building, and for you -- their families and friends. And, while we recall the tragedy of that awful event, we continue to admire and draw strength from your resolve to go forward with your lives.

Although you have suffered the harshest of tragedies, your confidence remains in the values we share as Americans: hard work, integrity, and perseverance in the face of adversity. Your continued faith in the America people is an appropriate tribute to the memory of your lost loved ones. All of America admires you, the men and women and families of Oklahoma City.

I cannot close without commending the federal workers of Oklahoma City for providing continued love and support to those affected by the tragedy. Your 168 lost friends and family members were in the Murrah Building that April 1995 morning for the same reason you go to work now -- to give your country a good day's work and to help make life a little easier for the people who need it most. By continuing your work, you are giving dignity to public service. This is a fitting legacy. You are role models for all of us.

We stand with you today and every day and our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sincerely,

Al Gore
