                     FEDERAL ELECTION COMMISSION
     REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING, FISCAL YEARS 1997 AND 1998
                              FACT SHEET

The President is requesting a total of $6,625,000 in additional funds for Fiscal Years 1997 and 1998 for the Federal Election Commission.

For Fiscal Year 1997, the President requests a supplemental appropriation of $1,709,000 for salaries and expenses for the Federal Election Commission. The current 1997 appropriation for the FEC is $28,165,000.

For Fiscal Year 1998, the President is submitting a budget amendment. The amendment adds $4,916,000 to the request of $29,300,000 that was included in the President's 1998 budget for salaries and expenses for the FEC. This brings the total Fiscal year 1998 request to $34,216,000.
