                 PRESIDENT NAMES DIANNE WELSH BLECK TO
          BOARD OF VISITORS TO UNITED STATES AIR FORCE ACADEMY

The President today announced his intention to appoint Dianne Welsh Bleck of Spokane, Washington, to be a Member of the Board of Visitors to the United States Air Force Academy.

Ms. Bleck is currently an associate professor at Eastern Washington University in Spokane, Washington. She has an extensive background in the areas of business and industry and has a strong background in research. Additionally, she is a former exchange professor at Kalinin State University in Russia. Ms. Bleck is a former vice president of the Collegiate Associations Council, and she serves as a member of the Academy of Management and the Academy of International Business. She is founder and editor of Franchising Research: An International Journal. She was a National Delegate to the Air Force Special Edition, vice chair of the Washington Economic Development and Finance Authority, and a member of the Commission on Judicial Conduct for the State of Washington.

Ms. Bleck received her B.A. in English from the University of Iowa, her M.S. in Psychology from Emporia (Kansas) State University, and her Ph.D. in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Under its charter the Board of Visitors is required to visit the Academy annually. It advises the Academy on the morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, physical equipment, fiscal affairs, academic methods, and other matters relating to the Academy which the Board decides to consider.
