                 PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES MEMBERS TO THE
          ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR TRADE POLICY AND NEGOTIATIONS

     President Clinton today announced his intent to appoint the 

following individuals to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN).

Lester M. Alberthal, Jr. of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Alberthal is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in Plano.

Roger J. Baccigaluppi of Sacramento, California. Mr. Baccigaluppi is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of RB International in Sacramento. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

John E. Bryson of San Marino, California. Mr. Bryson is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Edison International and its largest subsidiary, Southern California Edison Co. in Rosemead. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

James P. "Tom" Camerlo, Jr. of Pueblo, Colorado. Mr. Camerlo is President of the National Milk Producer's Federation in Arlington, Virginia. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

John T. Chambers of Los Altos, California. Mr. Chambers is President and Chief Executive Officer of Cisco Systems, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet.

Walter Y. Elisha of Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Elisha is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Springs Industries, Inc. in Fort Mill, South Carolina. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

     Donald V. Fites of Peoria, Illinois.  Mr. Fites is the Chief 
     Executive Officer of Caterpillar, 

Inc. in Peoria. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

Richard S. Fuld, Jr. of Greenwich, Connecticut. Mr. Fuld is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. in New York City.

Fred Krupp of New Canaan, Connecticut. Mr. Krupp is Executive Director of the Environmental Defense Fund in New York City. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

Lenore Miller of Little Silver, New Jersey. Ms. Miller is President of the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union in New York City. She is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

Bernard Rapoport of Waco, Texas. Mr. Rapoport is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of American Income Life Insurance Company in Waco. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

Jerome A. Siegel of Mamaroneck, New York. Mr. Siegel is Chairman of the Titan Industrial Corporation in New York City. He is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

Paula Stern of Washington, D.C. Dr. Stern is President of The Stern Group, Inc., an economic analysis and trade advisory firm in Washington. She is being reappointed to serve as a member of ACTPN.

John J. Sweeney of Washington, D.C. Mr. Sweeney is President of the AFL-CIO in Washington.

The Advisory Committee for Trade Policy Negotiations (ACTPN) provides overall policy advice on matters concerning objectives and bargaining positions before entering into a trade agreement, the operation of any trade agreement once entered into and other matters arising in connection with trade policy of the United States.
