PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES SUSAN E. TREES TO THE NATIONAL COUNCIL ON

THE HUMANITIES

The President today announced his intent to nominate Susan E. Trees to the National Council on the Humanities.

Susan E. Trees of West Tisbury, Massachusetts has twenty years of public relations experience. Most recently, Ms. Trees oversaw communications and special projects for the National Park Service. Previously, Ms. Trees was a public relations consultant in Boston from 1989 to 1992. She worked as a public relations consultant in Washington, D.C. from 1982 to 1988 and was the publicist for ABC Sports in New York from 1978 to 1981. Prior to this, Ms. Trees was a sports writer. Ms. Trees earned a B.A. degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder.

The National Council on the Humanities is responsible for advising the Chairperson with respect to the policies, programs and procedures necessary for the operation of the National Endowment for the Humanities. In addition, the Council reviews applications for the awarding of grants and makes recommendations to the Chairperson. Staff support and funding for the Council are provided by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
