STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Holiday Visit to Camp Lejeune, North Carolina

On Monday, December 23, 1996 the President will visit Marines and their families at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. The visit celebrates the holiday season and highlights the contributions and sacrifices made by America's Armed Forces and their families. The President will meet with a unit recently returned from a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea, and also with Marines and sailors on alert over the holidays.

Camp Lejeune is home to the Second Marine Expeditionary Force (II MEF). Units from Camp Lejeune are currently deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, Latin America, Haiti, and Okinawa.
