PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES STEVEN ALAN BENNETT TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE WOODROW WILSON INTERNATIONAL CENTER FOR SCHOLARS
The President announced today his intent to appoint Steven Alan Bennett to the Board of Trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars.
Steven Alan Bennett of Columbus, Ohio currently serves as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Banc One Corporation, the Nation's ninth largest financial institution. Prior to his current position, he served as Chief Legal Officer of Banc One's largest non-Ohio subsidiary, Bank One Texas, headquartered in Dallas. He also served as a partner in the law firm of Shank, Irwin, Conant, Lipshy & Casterline and as a member of the City Council of Mesquite, TX. Additionally, he serves as a Director of the Ohio Hunger Task Force. Mr. Bennett, a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Notre Dame earned his J.D. from the University of Kansas School of Law, where he served as Associate Editor of the Kansas Law Review. He is admitted to practice before the courts of Texas and Ohio and before the Supreme Court of the United States.
The Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars is established within the Smithsonian Institution and administered by an independent Board of Trustees. The Center fosters scholarship and dialogue in the humanities and social sciences by bringing fellows to Washington, D.C., encouraging discourse and publishing the results of their activities.
