Statement by Chief of Staff Leon E. Panetta

Senator Dole, according to the Associated Press, suggested today that he and the President meet to negotiate on a balanced budget. The following is a response from Chief of Staff Leon E. Panetta.

"We accept. The President is prepared to meet with Senator Dole tomorrow to begin negotiations on a balanced budget."
