        Statement by the White House Press Secretary on Visit of
                         German Chancellor Kohl

Chancellor Helmut Kohl of Germany has accepted President Clinton's invitation to visit Milwaukee, Wisconsin with him on May 23. The President and the Chancellor will hold a meeting to discuss bilateral and regional issues and will continue the discussion over lunch. There will be an opportunity for the two leaders to meet with the press after lunch.

The President and the Chancellor meet regularly to exchange views on important European and regional issues, including the Middle East, Bosnia and the future of NATO. In addition to their consultations on international issues, the President looks forward to introducing the Chancellor to Milwaukee and its people.
