PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES THOMAS S. FOLEY AS THE CHAIRMAN AND MEMBER OF THE PRESIDENT'S FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE ADVISORY BOARD President Clinton today announced his intent to appoint
Thomas S. Foley of Spokane, Washington and Washington, D.C. as the Chairman and Member of the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board.
Former Representative Foley served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1965 to 1994 and was Speaker of the House during the 101st, 102nd and 103rd Congress. He served as House Majority Leader of the 103rd Congress and in that capacity he was a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He also served as Majority Whip and Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus.
Mr. Foley serves on a number of boards of directors including the Board of Advisors for the Center for Strategic and International Studies. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and previously a member of its Board of Directors. Mr. Foley is a partner in the Law Firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld. He is married to the former Heather Strachan.
