SMITH NAMED TO US DISTRICT COURT FOR THE NORTHERN DISTRICT OF ALABAMA

The President today nominated C. Lynwood Smith, Jr. to serve on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.

Smith, 52, has been a judge on Alabama's Twenty-Third Judicial Circuit since 1981. Smith earned his B.A. and J.D. degrees at the University of Alabama and his M.A. degree from Rutgers University. He then served as clerk to Judge Frank McFadden of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. Immediately thereafter, he joined the law firm of Bell, Richardson, Cleary, McLain & Tucker, where he practiced for three years before becoming a partner in the law firm of Hornsby, Blankenship, Higgs, Smith & Robinson. Smith and his wife, Missy Ming, reside in Gurley.
