                           PRESIDENT NOMINATES FOUR
                         TO U.S. DISTRICT COURT BENCH

The President today nominated four individuals to serve on the U.S. District Court: Ann L. Aiken for the District of Oregon, Joseph A. Greenaway and Faith S. Hochberg for the District of New Jersey, and Ann D. Montgomery for the District of Minnesota.

Ann L. Aiken has served as a judge for the Lane County District and Circuit Courts in Eugene since 1988. Previously, she practiced law for six years in Oregon, served as Chief Clerk to the Oregon House of Representatives, and worked as a law clerk for Judge Edwin Allen of the Lane County Circuit Court. Aiken earned a J.D. degree from the University of Oregon School of Law; an M.A. degree from Rutgers University; and a B.A. degree from the University of Oregon. She and her husband, James Klonoski, have five children and reside in Eugene.

Joseph A. Greenaway has been an attorney with Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick since 1990. Previously, he was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Newark and a litigation associate with the law firm of Kramer, Levin, Nessen, Kamin & Frankel. Greenaway was also a law clerk for Judge Vincent Broderick of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Greenaway earned his J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and his B.A. degree from Columbia University. He and his wife, Veronica Blake-Greenaway, have one child and reside in Westfield.

Faith S. Hochberg is the U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey. Previously, she served as a Deputy Assistant Secretary for Law Enforcement at the Treasury Department, the Senior Deputy Chief Counsel of the Office of Thrift Supervision, and an Assistant U.S. Attorney. In addition, Hochberg was a partner with the New Jersey law firm of Cole, Schotz, Bernstein, Meisel & Forman and a law clerk for Judge Spottswood Robinson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit. Hochberg earned her J.D. degree from Harvard Law School and her B.A. degree from Tufts University. Hochberg and her husband, Mark, have two children and reside in Short Hills.

Ann D. Montgomery is a U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Minnesota, where she has served since 1994. She previously served as a Hennepin County District Court Judge and Municipal Court Judge. Prior to joining the bench, Montgomery was an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of Minnesota and a law clerk for Chief Judge Gerard D. Reilly and Judge Hubert B. Pair of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals. Montgomery earned her J.D. degree from the University of Minnesota and her B.S. degree from the University of Kansas. She and her husband, Theodore Smetak, have two children and reside in Plymouth.
