STATEMENT BY THE VICE PRESIDENT

At this hour of great loss, I want to express my personal sorrow at the death of Prime Minister Rabin: a man of towering courage and vision, whether as a commander in war or as an historic architect of peace. He was a great leader not only of his own country, but a statesman of global and historic stature, whose passing impoverishes the world. He will be remembered by us and by future generations as a martyr in the cause of peace.
