                PRESIDENT NOMINATES NANETTE K. LAUGHREY 
                       TO FEDERAL DISTRICT BENCH

The President today nominated Nanette K. Laughrey to serve on the U.S. District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of Missouri.

Laughrey, 49, has been a professor of law with the University of Missouri at Columbia since 1983. Before joining the faculty, she served as Deputy Attorney General for the State of Missouri, Municipal Judge for the City of Columbia, and an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Missouri. Laughrey earned her J.D. degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law and her B.A. degree from the University of California at Los Angeles. She and her husband, Christopher Kelly, have two children and live in Columbia.
