PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES LOTTIE H. SHACKELFORD TO THE OVERSEAS

PRIVATE INVESTMENT CORPORATION BOARD OF DIRECTORS

President Clinton today announced his intention to re-nominate Lottie H. Shackelford of Arkansas, to be the Small Business designate on the Overseas Private Investment Corporation Board of Directors.

Ms. Shackelford is a former City Director and a former Mayor of Little Rock, Arkansas. She has considerable expertise in the area of international trade and economic development. Ms. Shackelford has directed liaison activities for minority businesses and held leadership positions on several steering committees for the National League of Cities (NLC), including the Board of Directors, the Committee on Budget and Audit, and the Committee on Finance Administration and Intergovernmental Relations. She has led an economic development trade mission to Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, as well as a lecture tour in Europe and Africa. Ms. Shackelford is also a member of the Little Rock Airport Commission.

Ms. Shackelford received a B.A. degree in Business Administration from Philander Smith College in Arkansas, and was a Senior Fellow at the Arkansas Institute of Politics, and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She has also attended the University of Arkansas School of Law.

In her capacity as the Small Business Designate for the Overseas Private Investment Corporation Board of Directors, Ms. Shackelford will serve on the committee responsible for approving the Overseas Private Investment Corporation's finance and insurance for major projects involving U.S. overseas investments.
