STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Postponement of Chirac State Visit

President Clinton and French President Jacques Chirac have agreed, for reasons of convenience and scheduling, to postpone until February 1, 1996 the State Visit which President and Mrs. Chirac were to make to Washington on November 3.

The two Presidents will meet next week in New York during the 50th anniversary ceremonies of the United Nations.
