STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Presidential Visit to Spain for Biennial U.S.-EU Summit

The United States, Spain, which holds the Presidency of the European Council, and the European Commission have agreed that Spain will host the next United States-European Union Summit meeting on December 3, 1995. At the invitation of His Majesty King Juan Carlos I, President Clinton will visit Madrid to meet with Spanish Prime Minister Felipe Gonzalez and European Commission President Jacques Santer. President Clinton will also meet with King Juan Carlos and Prime Minister Gonzalez to discuss issues of bilateral interest during this, his first official visit to Spain.
