Statement by Office of Vice President Gore on Japanese Economic

Mission

The Vice President yesterday (Sept. 25) met with the Japanese Economic Mission to discuss overall bilateral relations and economic ties.

The Vice President noted the importance the Clinton Administration attaches to our partnership with Japan. He commended the Mission's goal of fostering closer bilateral economic cooperation and stressed our desire to work closely with the Japanese government and industry on implementation of our bilateral trade agreements.

The Vice President reaffirmed our support for APEC and observed that President Clinton was looking forward to a successful APEC leader meeting in Osaka and to his meetings with Japanese leaders in November.
