STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

Westinghouse's announced commitment to increase CBS's educational and informational programming for children is a step in the right direction. The President applauds Westinghouse's leadership in acknowledging its responsibility as a licensed user of the public airwaves and, as he did in his letter yesterday to the FCC Commissioners, calls on other networks to seize this opportunity to redefine how television can serve the public interest, especially our children's.
