PRESIDENT CLINTON DECLARES MAJOR DISASTER IN OREGON
The President today declared a major disaster in Oregon and ordered federal funds to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area struck by flash flooding on July 8 - 9, 1995. The President's action makes federal funding available to local governments in Wasco County.
Federal funding is available to eligible local governments on a cost-sharing basis for the repair or replacement of public facilities damaged by the flash floods. Federal funding is also available on a cost sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is continuing to conduct damage surveys in other areas of Oregon and additional counties may be added after the assessments are complete.
