PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES CHARLES B. CURTIS, DEPUTY
SECRETARY, U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY
President Clinton today announced his nomination of Charles B. Curtis of Maryland for Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy.
Mr. Curtis presently serves as Under Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, a position he has held since his appointment in February of 1994. As Under Secretary, Mr. Curtis is responsible for the management and administration of DOE's science and technology, national security, environmental cleanup, nuclear energy and radioactive waste programs.
As Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy, Mr. Curtis will serve as the Department's Chief Operating Officer.
