          PRESIDENT CLINTON NAMES DANIEL LECHT TO THE ADVISORY 
        COMMITTEE ON THE ARTS OF THE JOHN F. KENNEDY CENTER FOR 
                          THE PERFORMING ARTS

President Clinton today announced his intent to appoint Daniel Lecht to the Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Daniel Lecht of Rhode Island is President and Chief Executive Officer of R.I. Litho Printing Inc. and President of the ITU/CWA/AFL-CIO, Local 33. He is the former Chairman of the Rhode Island Council of the Arts and a member of the Providence Art Club. In addition, he is a member of the To Kalon Club and the Brown Faculty Club. Mr. Lecht attended Bryant College, the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of Rhode Island.

The Advisory Committee on the Arts of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is charged with advising and consulting with the Board of Trustees for the Center. The Committee makes recommendations to the Board regarding existing and prospective cultural activities to be featured at the Center. In addition, the members of the committee assist in the Center's capital campaign and act as liaisons to performance groups and performing arts centers throughout the nation. The staff and budget for the Advisory Committee are determined and allocated by the management of the Kennedy Center.
