President Clinton Declares Major Disaster in Texas
The President today declared a major disaster in Texas and ordered federal funds to supplement state and local recovery efforts in communities struck by recent severe thunderstorms, flooding, hail and tornadoes on May 28-31, 1995. The President's action makes federal funding available to affected individuals in Tom Green County.
Assistance can include disaster housing, grants, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and businesses recover from the effects of the disaster.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is continuing to conduct damage surveys in other areas of Texas and additional counties may be added after the assessments are complete.
