            PRESIDENT NAMES ANDREW FOIS ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL
      OF THE OFFICE OF LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS AT THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

The President today announced his intent to nominate Andrew Fois as Assistant Attorney General of the Office of Legislative Affairs at the Department of Justice.

Andrew Fois of the District of Columbia has served as Associate Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice since 1994. In this capacity, he is the primary advisor to the Deputy Attorney General on a range of policy and public affairs issues with an emphasis on legislative matters. From January to September of 1994, Mr. Fois served as an Assistant to the Attorney General and Counselor to the Deputy Attorney General, specializing in policy and legislative issues.

Before joining the Administration, Mr. Fois served as Chief Counsel to the House Subcommittee on Crimes and Criminal Justice from 1992 to 1994, and as Senior Counsel with that same Committee from 1989 to 1992. He served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1985 to 1989, and as Assistant State Attorney for Dade County, Florida from 1983 to 1984. Mr. Fois earned an undergraduate degree from Georgetown University in 1979, an M.A. from the University of Essex, England in 1981 and a J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center in 1983.
