PRESIDENT NAMES ROBERT F. RIDER AS A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS OF THE U.S. POSTAL SERVICE
President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate Robert F. Rider as a Member of the Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service.
Robert F. Rider of Delaware is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of O.A. Newton & Son Company, a position he assumed in 1984. Mr. Rider has been with O.A. Newton & Son Company since 1956, serving as Director from 1956 to the present, and as President from 1969 to 1984. He is Director of the Delaware State Fair, PNC Bank - Delaware, Bell Atlantic - Delaware and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Rider also serves as Director of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware and is a Trustee of the University of Delaware and the Wilmington Medical Center. Mr. Rider obtained a B.S. in Business Administration from Skidmore College in 1950.
The Board of Governors of the U.S. Postal Service directs the exercise of the powers of the Postal Service, directs and controls its expenditures, reviews its practices and policies, and establishes basic objectives and long-range goals in consonance with the provisions of the Postal Reorganization Act.
