PRESIDENT NAMES FRANK E. MAYNES U. S. COMMISSIONER OF THE UPPER COLORADO RIVER COMMISSION
The President today announced his intention to appoint Frank E. (Sam) Maynes of Durango, Colorado as the U. S. Commissioner of the Upper Colorado River Commission.
Mr. Maynes is a partner in the law firm of Maynes, Bradford, Shipps & Sheftel. Mr. Maynes serves as General Counsel for water conservation districts in Colorado including San Miguel, Dolores and Animas - La Plata. In addition, Mr. Maynes serves as General Counsel for the Southwestern Water Conservation District of Colorado and the Southern Ute Indian Tribe. Mr. Maynes serves as a Member of the Executive Board of the Colorado Water Congress, Member of the Board of Directors of the Colorado River Water Users Association, and is former Chairman of the Water Law Section of the Colorado Bar Association.
As the Chair and Member of the Upper Colorado River Commission, Mr. Maynes will work with the other Commission members to provide for the equitable division and apportionment of the waters of the Colorado River among Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.
