                      PRESIDENT NAMES JOHN L. HALL 
                  A MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS, 
        MICKEY LELAND NATIONAL URBAN AIR TOXICS RESEARCH CENTER

     The President today announced his intention to appoint John L.

Hall of Texas, to the Board of Directors, Mickey Leland National Urban Air Toxics Research Center.

Mr. Hall presently serves as Chairman of the Texas Water Commission. He is the former Senior Director of the Lower Colorado River Authority, and former Senior Deputy Commissioner of the Texas General Land Office. Mr. Hall received his B.A. from Sam Houston State University and his Masters from the L.B.J. School of Public Affairs, at the University of Texas.

In his capacity as a Member of the Board of Directors, Mickey Leland National Urban Air Toxics Research Center, Mr. Hall shall influence policy and research guidelines, submit views from the Center's sponsors and the public issue periodic reports of the Center's findings and activities. The Center;s research capabilities will focus on the areas of epidemiology, oncology, toxicology, pulmonary medicine, pathology, and biostatistics.
