INFORMATION ON GIFTS EXCHANGED BETWEEN PRESIDENT CLINTON AND
                   CHANCELLOR KOHL AT OFFICIAL DINNER

Gifts exchanged between President Clinton and Chancellor Kohl at White House Official Dinner honoring Dr. Helmut Kohl, chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany:

Chancellor Kohl presented President Clinton with an original watercolor painting of a saxaphone by a German artist.

President Clinton presented the Chancellor with an American mineral crystal, galena in flourite, which was excavated from the Elmwood Mine in Carthage, Tenn. The mine is situated under the Vice President's home in Carthage. Galena is a popular mineral in Germany because it shoots out of the stone in cubist shapes.
