STATEMENT BY THE PRESS SECRETARY

The President spoke today with President Ernesto Zedillo of Mexico concerning Mexico's progress in implementing its economic stabilization package and the legislation in the U.S. Congress concerning a loan guarantee package for Mexico. The President told President Zedillo that he expects that the bipartisan commitment of the Congressional leadership to address this issue will be fulfilled. The President said he will continue to work closely with Congress and urge it to act expeditiously.
