            PRESIDENT NAMES SAMUEL J. SIMMONS TO THE POLICY 
            COMMITTEE OF THE WHITE HOUSE CONFERENCE ON AGING

     The President today announced his intent to appoint Samuel J.

Simmons to the Policy Committee of the White House Conference on Aging.

Samuel J. Simmons of the District of Columbia, is the President and Chief Executive Officer of the National Caucus and Center on the Black Aged, Inc.(NCBA). Since assuming leadership for the NCBA, Mr. Simmons has developed the organization into a major service and advocacy organization working on behalf of the Black elderly. Prior to his accepting the Presidency of NCBA, Mr. Simmons was the President of the National Center for Housing Management. In addition to serving the private non-profit community, he has been Assistant Secretary for Equal Opportunity, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the Director of Field Operations for the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.

The Policy Committee of the White House Conference on Aging has the responsibility of planning the myriad of details related to the convening of the 1995 White House Conference on Aging. The conference is to be held on May 2-5, 1995, here in the District of Columbia.
