              THE PRESIDENT NAMES JOHN C. TRUESDALE TO 
                 THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS BOARD

The President today appointed John C. Truesdale, of Maryland, to be a Member of the National Labor Relations Board. Mr. Truesdale will serve as a recess appointee and will temporarily fill the vacancy in the seat previously held by Dennis M. Devaney, whose term expired 12/16/94. Mr. Truesdale's term will expire upon the confirmation of a successor.

Mr. Truesdale is currently the Executive Secretary of the National Labor Relations Board and served as a Member of the Board from 1977 through 1981, and as a recess appointment from January 25, 1994 to March 3, 1994.
