           PRESIDENT NAMES LORI L. VANDE ZANDE AS A MEMBER OF
                  THE ARCHITECTURAL AND TRANSPORTATION
                    BARRIERS COMPLIANCE ACCESS BOARD

The President today announced his intention to appoint Lori L. Vande Zande as a member of the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Access Board.

Lori L. Vande Zande, a wheelchair user, currently serves as a program and planning analyst for the Bureau of Long Term Support, Division of Community Services of the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human Services. Previously, she held a position with the Division of Housing of the Wisconsin Department of Administration. Ms. Vande Zande serves as a Chairperson of the Legislative Committee for the Citizens Advisory Commission for People with Disabilities. She has served on the Supreme Court Interdisciplinary Committee on Court-Related Needs of the Elderly and Persons with Disabilities, and the Wisconsin Council on Physical Disabilities. She earned her A.A. from Madison Business College.

The Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Access Board's functions include: (1) insuring compliance with the Architectural Barriers Act of 1968; (2) establishing and maintaining minimum guidelines and requirements for standards issued pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); and (3) developing advisory guidelines for, and providing technical assistance to individuals or entities with rights or duties under the ADA.
