         PRESIDENT NAMES ROBERT SUSSMAN, DR. SHIRLEY A. JACKSON 
       AND DAN M. BERKOVITZ TO THE NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION

President Clinton today announced his intention to nominate Robert Sussman, Dr. Shirley A. Jackson and Dan Berkovitz to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Mr. Sussman currently serves as Deputy Administrator at the Environmental Protection Agency and is a widely published expert on environmental law. Mr. Sussman has been a partner at the law firms of Latham & Watkins and Covington & Burling. He received his undergraduate and legal degrees from Yale University, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review.

Dr. Shirley A. Jackson is a Professor of Physics at Rutgers University and for the past sixteen years has been a theoretical physicist at AT&T Bell Laboratories. In addition, she has chaired the Nuclear Oversight Committee for the Public Service Electric and Gas Company and is a member of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operational Advisory Council. Dr. Jackson holds a B.S. and Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mr. Dan Berkovitz presently serves as Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works and formerly served as an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Mr. Berkovitz is a graduate of Princeton University (cum laude) and the Hastings College of Law.
